Instruct Scribe is a Chrome extension that opens a side panel to your own Instruct Scribe server (by default http://localhost:8077). The extension developer does not operate that server and does not receive your clinical data.

Data the extension stores in the browser

• The scribe server URL you enter in Settings (chrome.storage.sync).
• Optional site-access grants you approve so “Push to EMR” can fill form fields on that site. You can revoke these in Chrome’s extension details.

The extension does not use analytics, advertising, or crash telemetry.

Audio, transcripts, and clinical notes

Microphone audio and extracted notes are handled inside the side-panel iframe by your configured server. They are not sent to the extension developer. Retention, encryption, and any LLM processing (for example Google Gemini, using your API key on your server) are controlled by that server and its operator.

Website content (optional EMR fill)

If you click Allow EMR fill on a tab, the extension may read and write form fields on that site so it can paste extracted values. It does not scrape the page otherwise. Without that grant, the extension cannot access the page DOM.

Third parties

The extension package does not include third-party trackers. Your self-hosted server may call third-party APIs you configure (such as Google Gemini). Those services are governed by their own policies and by the API keys you provide on the server.

Children

This product is intended for licensed clinical use by adults. It is not directed at children.

Access and deletion

Clear the server URL in Settings or remove the extension to delete data stored by the extension. Audio and notes on your server must be deleted there (or by deleting session files on that machine).
